DSEAR Risk Assessments

Under the new CLP regulations 2015, Diesel & Gas Oil has been reclassified as a flammable liquid in the U.K and is now covered by DSEAR The Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002. All our fuel dispensing equipment is now ATEX certified to comply with the new regulations.

There are a number of products that now meet the criteria for classification as flammable which did not do so before in the new EU CPL Regulations. This is partly because the upper flash point for classification as a flammable liquid has been increased from 55 °C to 60 °C. The changes mean that for example, diesel, gas oil and light heating oils are now classified as flammable liquids. However, many substances so classified may not normally present a significant risk of fire when stored. Businesses should adopt a proportionate approach in considering whether there are any justifiable further measures needed when assessing there current systems.
